The Computer Science and Computer Information Systems (CIS) majors and minors are structured to provide students with the theoretical frameworks and skill sets necessary to compete and be productive in the information technology world. Specifically, the degrees focus on a program that builds an understanding of core information technologies and related areas of study, prepare students for the practical application of various information sciences and related technologies and engage students in sharpening their abilities to think critically and to work in teams. They incorporate both individual and team projects, and a capstone experience that provides students the opportunity to integrate all previous learning and experiences. Many of our graduates find full-time employment before they receive their degrees. The graduates also report a high degree of satisfaction with the program and the preparation afforded them. Employers who hire our graduates report that our graduates “are independent, reliable, do their job, understand what’s expected and are able to apply what they have learned”. Further, our degree is regularly reviewed by various professional organizations, including AITP (Association of Information Technology Professionals) and SIM (Society for Information Management) |
